Miss ANDA, BOHOL

IRISH DELIMA

Age: 20
Height: 5 feet 8 inches
Measurements: 33 inches - 26 inches - 34 inches
Occupation/Education: AB Communications Student

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
When I was a kid, I always love to play Barbie, love watching fairytales, and I enjoy playing and spending my whole time with friends. It was such an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. It is so funny to think that everything seems to move fast forwarded. I love how it feels to make the best things out of your resources, those times when a single coin could brighten up our day. My childhood was really a memorable one, I get to experience the love from uncles and aunties who now have their very own family. It was really full of love and attention and I wish that we could really bring back the time.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
I have learned to stand for what you believe in, to fight for which you think is right and just, to chase and work for your dreams no matter how hard it is. All throughout my life, I have always dreamed to have a fairytale life story, but I was mistaken. My expectations and experiences taught me to be independent, to strive hard, to take risks, and to learn from my mistakes, failures, and judgments. It made me stronger, and builds up the person who I am today. I know that it will also build up the person I am in the future.

Most memorable moment:
To be announced as one of the official candidates for Miss Philippines Earth 2021!

Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth?
I always believe in the uniqueness of each and every candidate. And if fate flies at the center of palm, it would be because I am an empowered individual who is determined and ready to conquer the Earth with my voice. I want to share my experiences to others and radiate the importance of my advocacy. I want to create impact. I am a dedicated person and I believe that whatever great achievements I have right now, it is because of the proof of my hardwork. I love to dedicate myself to the Earth, to the humanity. Every time I woke in the morning, even I feel physically heavy, I would still stand and seize the day because my inner being keeps on pushing me to work hard and continue the things that I am passionate about because my inner self knows that my purpose in this world is more than just being a student, a daughter, sister, and a friend. I am an eco-warrior, I am an advocate for goodness, life, and humanity.

What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
BUILDING AN EQUITABLE ZERO-CARBON ECONOMY

According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, Carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases are the main drivers of global warming. Know the fact that global warming is not just a mere increasing of heat in areas of the world, this attracts other natural phenomenon such as increasing of tides, drought, insect outbreaks, less to no agricultural yields, human health issues, flooding, erosion, all linked to climate change. When we think of global warming and carbon dioxide, we thought of climate change. Climate change is not a joke.

I have seen an increasing urgency to take action on this climate change before year 2030 as discussed by the United Nations under their Sustainable Development Goals. Because if we don’t, our future generations will suffer. Everything will get worse and worse ever and become unstoppable. While its condition can still be controlled, then we have to take that opportunity to keep everything on stable.

How? That should start with our initiative. We have to cut or at least lessen our carbon footprint, the greenhouse gas emissions produced from our daily consumption from fossil fuels for electricity, heat, and transportation, we have to plant trees, make a habit of disciplining yourselves especially when it comes to your wastes or garbages because if you don’t, these will end up going to the dump sites and imagine how many tons of plastics, rubbers, and other sorts of garbages are burnt when dump site shoppers think of them as not usable anymore?

I am a strong advocate of building a zero-carbon economy because I have truly understood how this change can go further to worse. I believe that this organization by carousel production, the Miss Earth Philippines will help me in my advocacy and strengthen my voice to create impact among others
