Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
It is undeniable that my childhood is truly the best and most amusing decade of my life. Growing up, I always had the best summertime soaking in the sun and playing in the ricefields and paddies in Siniloan, Laguna called ‘Sinarol’. Those fun times, I never got bothered about getting sunburnt or getting mosquito bites and rashes all over my body because I just had too much fun jumping in hays in the middle of the ricefield and crossing a pilapil and playing with my childhood friends to even recognize them. When I’m sad and feel alone, I just rewind those memories over and over and feel home and safe again.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
I believe that the greatest lesson I have learned from my childhood is to always treasure the memories and imprint them within you so when the time comes you have to share them, they are as fresh as the moment it happened and you’ll feel like you’re still living in that moment. Another beautiful lesson I have learned is to not be afraid of failures. Rather, be afraid of not encountering them. Our failures and mistakes committed as a young one are what sculpt and cultivate us to become a grown up of reasonable values.
Most memorable moment:
My most memorable moment growing up is when my grandmother ‘Lola Baby’ taught me and my sister how to plant a rice in our ricefield in the middle of the hot afternoon sun while singing “Magtanim ay ‘di biro” And my sister and I actually had a fun yet really tiring time that after that day, we really got dehydrated!
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth?
I want to become Miss Philippines Earth 2021 because I believe that through this title and platform, I know I will be able to share to the people of all ages and social standing the value of being sensitive to our environment’s needs. We live and benefit in this country, in this humble world and we need to be able to realize that we have to contribute individually in order to stop it from turning into a wasteland. Through my voice and influence, I want to be able to make this world a better place to live in, where everyone is thriving and our environment is flourishing.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
I want to be an advocate of a sustainable, zero-waste living through encouraging people to make their own products and to also support local, toxic-free, and eco-friendly businesses here in the Philippines that main vision is to reduce waste and use recyclable and sustainable materials in the entire production. During this pandemic, it became more obvious that the relationship between our environment, economy, and health are truly important. If I can get people to realize the value of those three, then together, we can make this world a better place to live in where there is ecological sustainability, economic prosperity, and health and wellness literacy.
