Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I had a very colorful childhood, usually on weekends, I would go to UP Diliman and go on different nature trips with my family and we would bike around. My dad was a cycling athlete before that is why cycling has become our bonding time. At the age of 13, I competed at Asia Cosplay Meet and became the youngest Filipina to ever win an international cosplay award, my mom helped me a lot to achieve that and she became my biggest supporter and props and costume maker at the same time for that competition as we used recycled materials for my costume.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
My mother has become my greatest mentor as she taught me the value of empathy. Empathy breeds kindness and therefore if we can be the best version of ourselves we can understand where people are coming from and also the environment they are living in. Therefore, together we can set an example to everyone to be kind not only to ourselves, to others but also to the Earth, our home so that our future generations will thank us.
Most memorable moment:
My most memorable moment was when I was able to travel a lot during my college years. I was able to explore different parts of Asia and lived in Brunei as an exchange student. From there, I was able to see and experience the culture, nature, and environment of one country to another.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth?
Ever since I was a child, nature has been my home and breathing space. When I became a teenager, I became a supporter of Greenpeace Philippines and this became the greatest part of my college years until now that I am joining Ms Earth. I would love to take this opportunity to amplify and strengthen my advocacy about the zero waste living so that the big people in charge will start taking sustainable action by becoming their own role model to people in the community how we can preserve our planet Earth for the future generations to come.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
My advocacy is all about Zero Waste Living. I believe this would be a good entry point for reducing our footprint on planet Earth. Ocean covers 71% of our Earth and having a lot of plastic waste in our ocean will greatly impact our planet in a negative way. That is why, the time is now to take sustainable practices.
