Occupation/Education: Actress and Model

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I would describe my childhood and growing years to be very colourful. What I mean by this is, ever since I was young Ive always been active in wanting to pursue the arts. I was the only one to attend painting lessons, singing lessons, guitar lessons, dancing lessons, everything and anything creative I wanted to pursue. Naturally, I was always afraid to fall short in these exciting endeavours but I never let that stop me from at least trying and saying I did my best. If you were to ask me as a young girl what I wanted to pursue as an adult you would receive multiple different answer because exploring life is what I believe you’re supposed to do during your growing years. So if I were to speak to the youth of today I would tell them and encourage them to not to let the fear of falling short dull their spark or grey their clouds and let their ambitions soar. I was lucky enough to have parents who supported my dreams and adventures and I want to be that same type of role model for children everywhere.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
I am the only girl in my family amidst 2 brothers and 7 male cousins, making me grow up to be very boy-ish and enjoying generally male specific interests and hobbies such as video games, sports, baggy clothes and hip hop/rap music. I believe that due to this heavy male influence growing up, it helped me become more independent as a female individual and as a young child. I began to discover my own hobbies and interests outside of my family and started exploring the world of makeup, fashion and soon to be pageantry. Although I would often explore these hobbies alone, it did not deter me away from bonding and having a close relationship with my cousins and family. This lesson of independence is something that has been instilled in me as a young child, forming my beliefs to always dream big and chase after your goals regardless of how ambitious they may seem because at the end of the day, your personal happiness is the most important. This independence and ambition is something I now carry with me daily, as I decided to leave my home country of Canada and pursue my acting and pageantry goals in the Philippines.

Most memorable moment:
My most memorable moment was first arriving here in the Philippines as a sole independent and self-supporting individual. After a long 24 hours of traveling, the moment the sun and heat of the Philippines hit my body it felt as if I was emerging into a new life. This life changing decision was the first time I put all trust, faith and confidence within myself to go after and pursue my ultimate life ambitions and goals. Some may call it risky, but I believe the worst is the risk not taken, where I look back in my life and regret not pursuing my childhood dreams of acting, performing and pageantry in my beloved country of the Philippines. My friends and family often as me if I am afraid of taking this risk, but for me I will never forget that feeling of relief, excitement and pure joy that I felt when first arriving here in the Philippines.

Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth?
I want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2022 because my passion truly lies behind our Earth and its wonderful people. There is no planet B and although the task of combating all of the harmful actions happening to our home may seem too big to conquer, I wish to be a pillar of hope and most importantly a strong leader for our future generations who are worried about the current state of our beloved Earth and Environment. Proving that through the power of education and our voice, we are able to create a positive change for the sake of a brighter future. I wish to not just advocate for change, but to be a part of that change. Whether it be just in my local communities or on a more global and international scale. I want to be the next Miss Philippines Earth 2022 because I want to continue spreading my message, sharing my passion, helping educate others and most of all saving our planet.

What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
My environmental advocacy is the education behind proper waste management and recycling. Ever since we are young, we are taught to reduce, re-use and recycle. Although it may appear straight forward, the task of recycling and proper waste management is more intricate than it might seem. In reality, if one wrong item is recycled incorrectly, then tons of recyclable items get tossed into our landfills daily. That is why I am advocating for a change in our educational system where we can properly teach the youth how to correctly recycle and the importance of proper waste management. This way we can have full confidence knowing that this knowledge will be passed down for future generations to come and overall create a big change and impact on how we view recycling and how we can live a more sustainable lifestyle beginning at a young age.

What tip can you share to promote eco-tourism in your City or Municipality?
If I could give one tip to promote eco-tourism in my city it would be to have more access to garbage bins and recycling bins. Without regular access to garbage and recycling bins, it is unfortunate to say that people will often resort to throwing trash out on the streets, which then will overall negatively impact our environment’s natural biodiversity and much more. By having more access to proper waste management bins we can lessen the amount of garbage and litter we see in the streets, restore and recover some of the environment’s natural biodiversity and overall have a cleaner and more sustainable Earth.
