Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I grew up in a village in my mother’s town with nature, animals and farms. I grew up with parents who instilled in me the value of keeping my surroundings clean. I used to be disciplined for leaving my toys scattered around when I was a child. This made me aware of everything that’s happening around me. This made me realize that, in life, our actions have their corresponding consequences, good or bad, and that what we want to contribute to this world is within our control.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
To work hard, count my blessings, and to always have a grateful heart. To be kind and be sensitive to the needs of others. I also learned to work hard for everything I wanted to achieve. Everything is earned & through the guidance of God & perseverance, and despite the hurdles, every goal is all worth it when you attain the success you’ve been longing for.
Most memorable moment:
Becoming independent was one of the most challenging yet fulfilling decisions I’ve ever made. Since I had very strict parents growing up, I was always dependent on them for everything. When I graduated from college, I wanted to experience the reality of life, outside my comfort zone. I had an opportunity to work abroad & live independently. My parents supported my decision & I became an OFW at a young age. After working overseas, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a TV Host in Manila. Having been born & raised in Davao City, I didn’t know anyone in the Metro Manila but I have always felt God’s guidance. Living independently has made me grateful for the way my parents raised me. I welcomed the unknown, I’ve experienced the highs & lows of life, getting sick with no one to rely on, no parents to take care of you, finding means & ways to survive and many more challenges. Everything is essential to my growth as a person. Through it all, I became an empowered woman knowing what life truly is and still facing it head-on with a rosy-eyed optimism.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2019?
I want to be of service to my countrymen and Mother Earth. I want to help strengthen more communities through eco-tourism. I’m a firm believer of the Chinese proverb, “Give a man a fish & you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish & you’ll feed him for a lifetime.” Through my advocacy, there will be inclusive growth in each & every community, providing livelihood through its participation in eco-tourism & environmental stewardship. I hope to maximize this by promoting this globally, for this will truly help my countrymen & all the vulnerable communities around the world.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
My environmental advocacy is to promote the eco-tourism of our country. I want to help strengthen communities through this. Every community will have inclusive growth through area development, preserving their culture & environmental stewardship. This will help alleviate poverty by providing livelihood through its participation in eco-tourism and help improve the environment through the conscious effort of the community to work together towards the sustainable development of the eco-tourism area.
